I have a secret.
Underneath my clothes, hidden away from the world, is a piece of art - and it makes me happy.
On June 10, 2011, a week after my biopsy at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I'll never forget that moment.
I'll also never forget the care that I received. Even though the IWK sees tons of people come through its doors, the staff made me feel special. Today I'm in remission and living each day to the fullest. As a way of giving back, I'm setting out to raise $100,000 for breast cancer treatment and research. All funds raised will help fund a special program at the Breast Health Centre at the IWK dedicated to the psycho-social care of breast cancer patients as well as breast cancer research through the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region.
I want to make a difference. I want to save lives.
You can help.
Any donation, no matter what the amount, will go a long way to support those who've been diagnosed with breast cancer. Show your support and make a gift today. I've never wanted to be thought of as a survivor. I'm a breast cancer badass!
